Channel Champ Celebration at National Balloon Museum
The Channel Champ, piloted by Ed Yost and Don Piccard was installed in a permanent exhibit at the National Balloon Museum on May 20, 2006. Ed Yost was in attendance to give a first hand account of the first crossing of the English Channel in a hot air balloon. In addition, the IAL was there to help Ed celebrate the 45th anniversary of the first modern hot air balloon flight. The following is the text of an article which was published in the Record-Herald newspaper in Indianola Iowa.

Channel Champ Celebration with Ed Yost
The "Channel Champ", the first hot air balloon to fly across the English Channel, will be part of a new exhibit opening Saturday May 20, 2006 at the National Balloon Museum in Indianola, Iowa. To celebrate the opening of the Channel Champ exhibit pilot Ed Yost will be present on Saturday as part of a special open house from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

Bell Canada a national leader in the telecommunications industry has contracted a Lightship (a non rigid airship referred to as a “Blimp”), to tour Alberta and British Columbia from 16 April until 10 October 2005 The Lightship will visit 20 communities in these provinces averaging a three-day stay in each location.

TSA and New Citizenship Rules
On 20 September 2004, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) published a new ruling – Part 1552 – which affects every balloonist who offers flight training in the U.S, under both FAR Part 61 and FAR Part 141. The ruling for aircraft under 12,500 pounds, which includes balloons, became effective 20 October 2004.
